Tunnel-boring machine for new Crenshaw light-rail named after Harriet Tubman
Harriet was not quite ready for her close-up.
The 950-ton tunnel boring machine named after African-American abolitionist Harriet Tubman was hoisted about five feet off the ground Monday. But Metro construction crews put her back down, saying her work on the underground rail-line known as the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project would have to wait for calmer weather.
