Tenders floated for 12 Metro station works DOHA: The tendering committee of Qatar Rail has floated tenders for developing its 12 proposed metro stations.
The rail company is looking for competent consultants and contractors to carry out the project. The company will start accepting tender forms from Sunday until October 25, Al Sharq reports. The first phase of the Doha Metro project will see the opening of 37 stations. Another 60 stations would be opened in the second phase. A senior official of the company recently said that about 50 percent of the 113km-long tunnelling works for Doha Metro have been completed with the help of 21 tunnel boring machines (TBMs). The Doha Metro system construction works are phased over two stages. The first phase sees the construction of three out of the four lines (Red, Gold, and Green) — and their opening to the public is expected by late 2019. The east-west Green Line starts from near the stadium and runs at ground level before descending into a tunnel below Dukhan Highway, which turns into Al Luqta Street as it passes Education City.
